Should I consider starting therapy?
Seeing a psychologist can be beneficial for a number of different reasons. Research has shown that therapy can help alleviate symptoms related to a number of disorders as classified in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). People come to therapy for help in the treatment of various disorders such as: depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc. According to a study conducted by Psychology Today, an estimated 59 million Americans have undergone therapy within the last two years. The large majority report a high level of efficacy, regardless of the type of treatment they have received.
Therapy can also be beneficial as a way to promote personal growth, overcome challenges related to life’s hardships, or work on relationships in couples or family therapy.
